The 150 Logo

In the winter of 2013, the Canadian Government released a series of 5 proposed logos to celebrate the upcoming 150th anniversary of the country. They were awful. Like many other Canadian creatives, I was shocked & disappointed with what I saw. Taking action, I contacted a group of esteemed creatives from across the country, and asked them to do better. I built a website at (The150logo) and then I started to receive emails from designers across Canada to join the cause.

The project has received amazing coverage and turned into a grassroots movement that eventually forced the Canadian government to reconsider their approach to the 150 Logo design. With over 3 million hits, the project was featured in a myriad of publications and media outlets from around the world, such as Creative Review to Fast Company, The Huffington post & more. I have also been interviewed by Canada's National News Broadcaster CBC on the Power & Politics program. You can watch the entire interview with Hannah Thibedeau right above.

The results and outcry of support from across Canada has simply been amazing. In less than a month from launching, The150Logo.ca has received over a million hits.
It has been featured in publications from Creative Review to Communication Arts, and on Canadian National prime-time TV to all of the major Canadian newspapers. The150Logo.ca has been an amazing project rooted in design pride, one of my favourite projects to date.
